The members of Professional Business Women of New Mexico (PBWNM) are known in New Mexico as the leading group dedicated to improving the status of women. Our membership is diverse, ranging from recent high school graduates to retirees who come from varied backgrounds, professions, education, race, and socio-economic levels. We count as our members women and men in a wide range of fields.
Our mission is to achieve equity for all women in or out of the workplace through advocacy, education and information. Now in its 86th year, SF PBW was originally chartered in 1923 as Capital City Business & Professional Women (CCBPW). SF PBW supports legislation important to women and supplies information to members on chosen focus issues. Open to men and women, our chapter seeks to build powerful women by recognizing, supporting and inspiring women professionally, politically and personally through major annual events and activities:
Scholarships—awarded to women in the community who want to further their education but need assistance in doing so. These awards can be spent in whatever way is most beneficial to the winners.
Employers of the Year—recognition awarded to Santa Fe employers who create successful workplaces for women through a track record of establishing and maintaining family-friendly policies and equal pay for work, responding to the needs of women employees through equal access to training, and representing equity in all levels of the organization.
Young Professional—recognition awarded to a woman (age 25-35) in the early stages of her/his career for accomplishments as an upcoming leader; this award also provides mentoring and networking opportunities.
Annual Charity Event—Our primary fundraiser for our scholarship program.
Woman of the Year—recognition awarded to a Santa Fe businesswoman for her accomplishments and for running a successful business or nonprofit organization.
